D-Day - SWORD Beach

SWORD beach was allocated to British forces and lay at the eastern end of the invasion, between St Aubin-sur-Mer and Ouistreham. The terrain in this sector was flat, low-lying land, with areas of flooding behind the beach. Several built-up areas were situated along the coastline, with a string of strongpoints overlooking the shore hidden within them.
