Image Sales
Buying online images
To buy an image visible on the website, simply add it to your basket by clicking the "Buy" button beneath the image. Images purchased for Personal-use are £16.50 (plus VAT) per online image, supplied at 300 ppi resolution. All images marked 'NARA Catalogue' are also available on request at 1200 ppi resolution for £33 (plus VAT) per online image.
Once you are satisfied with the images in your basket, please complete sections 2 and 3 of the order form and click the "Order Now" button. We will then email you a Licence Agreement with full details of your order including the price. When you have accepted our licence terms and completed your payment you will be able to access and download your purchased images.
To buy a website image at resolutions higher than 300 ppi, please use the Image Order Form.
Buying images not yet online
We hold over 26 million aerial photographs, most of which have not been digitised and uploaded to the website. If you wish to purchase one of these, and you have the image reference number, please use our Image Order Form and we will digitise the image for you. All prices are exclusive of retrieval and licence fees - please see below for our full price list.
If you don't know the image reference number, you can find it by buying a subscription to view our online Finding Aids, by requesting a Paid Image Search or by Visiting Us.
Payment
We accept payment by credit card and PayPal 
Timescale
Orders of up to 25 items take 15 working days (3 weeks), once the order is confirmed and payment is made.
Our express service delivers in 7 working days (1.5 weeks) at double the prices below.
Research Copy orders of up to 25 images will be delivered in 10 working days.
We will confirm your order by email, tell you the exact price and give you the opportunity to continue or cancel.
Working days are Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.
Format
We supply digital images in TIFF format at various resolutions. Please note that oversize images (e.g. GX Mosaics) are only available at 300 ppi, for technical and conservation reasons. To help you decide which resolution is best for your needs, please download our resolution examples:

Dimensions
Pixel and file sizes will vary depending on the physical size and format of the original image but guideline dimensions for a 229mm x 229mm panchromatic original are:
- 300 ppi (2800 pixels wide) 8Mb
- 600 ppi (5600 pixels wide) 32Mb
- 1200 ppi (11200 pixels wide) 132Mb

NCAP Subscriptions
Zoom and pan all of the aerial images on our website at 300 ppi resolution, and all of our catalogued Finding Aids, with a subscription.
Finding aids show the geographic area covered by each photograph within a mission. Use them to identify and order copies of photographs that have not yet been digitised and uploaded to our website.
Subscriptions are available for Personal or Commercial/Institutional use.
Letter of Authenticity
Prove the date a photograph was taken with a Letter of Authenticity.
Add this to your image order and our aerial photographic experts will gather key information to provide you with factual and unbiased evidence about your image. This can include:
- the precise date and time a photograph was captured
- the altitude of the aircraft
- the focal length of the camera lens
- the unit or company which took the photograph
- the method and resolution of digitisation
Image Verification
Want to order a high-resolution image but can't be sure it will cover your area?
Add Image Verification to your order and our expert staff will check your selection. If we find a better match to your requirements on the same roll of film, we will alter your order accordingly.
Our Image Verification service removes any margin of error in selecting imagery from points or plots. You can be confident that your order will result in an image that covers your area of interest on the date you selected. If it doesn't, we will refund your image payment.
Please note - this service currently applies to aerial imagery of the UK only.
