BBC Operation Crossbow - Other images featured

These aerial photographs were featured in the BBC documentary Operation Crossbow, first broadcast in the United Kingdom on 15 May 2011. They provide an indication of the range of geographical areas covered by the photographic reconnaissance pilots and variety of subjects that were studied by the photographic interpreters at RAF Medmenham, Buckinghamshire, during the Second World War.

Included below are a number of aerial photographs taken during one sortie flown by pilot Jimmy Taylor, who features in the documentary, and which survive in The National Collection of Aerial Photography. The remaining photographs from that sortie, alongside all the surviving aerial photography taken by him, will be uploaded onto this website as part of our ongoing digitisation programme.
