Suez Crisis 50 years on
Fifty years ago, in November 1956, British, French and Israeli forces invaded Egypt. Aerial photographs taken during the crisis are available to view on the NCAP website.
During the conflict, French and British reconnaissance planes flew missions over Egypt every day. Often flying at low-level, they photographed airfields, barracks, beaches and communications routes. Photographic interpreters analysed the photographs to plan and track the campaign.
