Mediterranean covered
A new release of finding-aids means that the NCAP-held MAPRW Collection is now fully catalogued and accessible via this website. These finding-aids show the extent of our holdings of aerial photography taken by the Mediterranean Allied Photo Reconnaissance Wing (MAPRW) during the Second World War.
The MAPRW was a joint British, US and South African unit based at San Severo, Italy, from 1943-1945. It was created following the successful Allied campaign in North Africa. Our collection covers locations across the Mediterranean, southern, central and eastern Europe.
You can search our MAPRW finding aids from home or office. To explore the collection in more depth, our website subscription allows you to zoom and pan all of the photographs on our website andto identify images that are not yet on the website. We also offer a commercial subscription for business use; please contact us at ncap@hes.scot for further information on commercial subscription packages.
